Welcome to Benedict Morelli

Benedict Morelli is one of the country’s top litigators and founder of Morelli Law Firm. Since its creation, the firm has grown into a powerhouse of world-class attorneys fighting for victims of abuse, negligence, and incompetence.

In a legal world dominated by arbitration, mediation, and lawyers who are afraid to take their clients’ cases to trial, Benedict Morelli stands out. No matter the adversary, he is never afraid to go to court. In fact, during his forty years of practicing law, he’s developed a reputation as a true trial lawyer - successfully winning cases against major corporations with substantial financial resources. On many occasions, Mr. Morelli has refused settlement offers, instead taking those cases to trial and winning substantially higher awards than what was originally offered.

Much of Mr. Morelli’s success in the courtroom stems from his uncanny ability to relate with jurors. Other lawyers and commentators have noted the unique rapport that he is able to establish with jurors. This skill has helped him rack up a near perfect record in jury trials and, on several occasions, have the jury award him more money than he requested.

In addition to his overall success rate, Mr. Morelli often secures record-breaking verdicts. Some of his largest public verdicts have come in medical malpractice cases, including a major wrongful death case involving a pregnant woman whose ectopic pregnancy was misdiagnosed. In that case, he won a verdict of $41 million for the victim’s family. He also secured a $40 million award for a client who was the victim of a needless partial hand amputation.

Although he is a plaintiff’s attorney by trade, due to Mr. Morelli’s success with juries in the courtroom, experts frequently call on him for his analysis of juries in criminal cases. Most recently, he has weighed in on jury outcomes in the Bill Cosby sexual assault trial, in which his insights were featured in Business Insider, and the Martin Shkreli fraud case, where he gave his opinion on Shkreli’s lack of likability and its effect on the jury in the New York Business Journal.

Mr. Morelli provides his professional legal opinion on a multitude of civil cases and current legal issues in a standing column on HuffPost. Issues he’s addressed in the column include attempts to mandate state medical malpractice caps, United Airlines’ assault of a passenger, and sexual harassment investigations at Uber.
